North I-25 Vanpool Program
Due Date: Ongoing
SCMN is looking to change how vanpooling is perceived from a qualitative standpoint under our general concept of Concierge Commuting. Through this grant opportunity, SCMN will promote van pool commuting by marketing creature comfort elements that elevate vanpooling from the current expectations of vanpooling to a more personal experience comparable to what a commuter would feel traveling in his own vehicle while sharing the ride with 4-5 friends and neighbors. Typically, the commuter's perception of van pooling is being picked up at one or several locations where one leaves their car and rides to work with co-workers in a large white bench seat passenger van (sometimes wrapped with an advertising logo announcing it's a vanpool) to their place of employment and back again. At the end of the day, someone in the vanpool takes the vehicle home with them and parks it at their residence. With SCMN's Concierge Commuting concept we are targeting neighborhood friends, through their HOAs, who are traveling south on I-25 into the Denver employment center. The vans will be to vehicles people typically buy for themselves with comfortable seats on the inside and indistinguishable from their own type of vehicles on the outside. Van pool participants will be able to walk to a destination within their neighborhood to catch their ride, eliminating leaving their car at a pick up location, and the van will deliver the participants to a center drop off area in downtown Denver, where they will meet at the end of the work day to pick it up for the ride home.
