The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS), San Juan, Puerto Rico has a requirement to replenish the stock of fresh fruits and vegetables for everyday living to feed the patients hospitalized in our facility. This is a monthly order with weekly deliveries to our facility located at VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) this is the order for fresh fruits and vegetables needed to serve patient"s meals during FY 2014. These are specialized services, the handpicked selection of every perishable item as well as the willingness to take back and make adjustments without additional charges, best prices and fast delivery.
The Government intends to negotiate a commercial, firm-fixed-priced contract on a sole source basis with Frigorifico Vallejo, as permitted by the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements". This procurement action will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is no later than March 1, 2014.
Should there be other interested and capable contractors, please submit your expressions of interest to include documentation of company capabilities in sufficient detail for the Government to determine that your company possesses the necessary Certification and/or authorize dealer documentation, exclusivity rights, expertise and experience to compete for this acquisition. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this action is solely within the discretion of the Government.
THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. No solicitation package is available at this time. No request for proposals will be issued. As mentioned above, a determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
This is a notice of intent announcement. No evaluation letters will be issued to participants. This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government and no contract will be awarded from this announcement.
