Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are among the fastest-growing diagnoses for individuals with developmental disabilities in the United States, purportedly increasing as rapidly as 10 to 17 percent a year. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), current prevalence rates suggest that 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys in the US are on the autism spectrum. A solicitation will be issued seeking appropriately qualified vendors to provide services to support the needs of NYC residents who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) but who are unable to access similar services funded by the Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities ("OPWDD") and other state agencies. The vendors would also provide services and support to the caregivers of individuals diagnosed with ASDs. Additional goals of the solicitation are to: • Promote the use of best practices for services provided to individuals with ASDs. • Monitor service delivery targets and desired outcomes of individuals who are served by this program. • Optimize use of available resources through monitoring of data regarding requests for services, program eligibility and enrollment, referrals and linkages, and utilization of services. • Identify and share knowledge on effective use of evidence-informed, evidence-based, and promising practices and results of quality improvement of efforts among provider partners and other stakeholders. Selected vendors would be current providers of services to individuals with developmental disabilities in New York City ("NYC") and would provide a range of direct services for individuals with ASDs who are either ineligible to receive, or are waiting to be deemed eligible to receive, similar services under the auspices of OPWDD or other publically funded programs. The programs will serve children, youth, and/or young adults (age 3 to 25) with one or more of the following: • Direct wraparound services that complement school programming for children such as after-school and/or weekend/holiday recreational programs. • Services providing recreational and socialization opportunities for adults or children designed to increase their repertoire of social experiences, foster community integration and enhance interpersonal communication. • Vocational readiness training for individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
