BID AWARDED>>> Notice is hereby given that City of Fort Madison will receive Bids at City Clerk's Office, City Hall, 811 Avenue E, Fort Madison, Iowa, until November 13, 2012, at 2:00 pm, local time, for the Public Improvement Project 2012—5, 1000 Block Sewer Replacement Project at which time Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids will be acted upon at the regular council meeting on November 20, 2012, or at such later time and place as may then be fixed. Regular council meetings are held on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. General summary of Work to be performed: Work includes general construction of sanitary sewer replacement of approximately 460' of 8" sanitary sewer in the 1000 block Alley between 11th and 10th Streets and Avenues E and F. Work also includes new manholes, full width portland cement concrete pavement replacement in the alley, and other related work. Work shall be in accordance with the Bidding Documents, including the Project Manual; SUDAS Standard Specifications, 2012 edition; and Drawings, which are on file at the office of City Clerk. A base set of Bidding Documents consisting of 1 Project Manual and 1 half-size set of Drawings may be obtained from Ms. Mandy Hoag, Stanley Consultants, Inc., Muscatine, Iowa, telephone 563-264-6657 upon deposit or payment in the amount of $40.00. Additional Bidding Documents may be obtained at the same cost but are nonrefundable. The deposit for 1 base set will be refunded to those Bidders who return the Bidding Documents in good condition within 15 days following the Bid opening. All Bids shall be submitted in triplicate, on forms provided with the Project Manual, to the office of the City Clerk, Fort Madison, Iowa on or before the time specified above. Each Bid shall be accompanied, in a separate sealed envelope, by Bid security in an amount of not less than 5% of the Bid. Bid Bonds must be executed by corporations authorized to contract as Surety in the State of Iowa and in a form described in the Contract Documents. Bid security shall be forfeited if the Bidder fails or refuses to sign and deliver a signed Agreement and furnish required contract security. Upon notification of award, Successful Bidder shall furnish contract security in the form of performance and payment bonds described in the Contract Documents. Performance of the Work will start within 14 calendar days after date of Notice to Proceed, and shall be completed within the time stated in the Contract Documents. The City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any Bid for a period not to exceed 35 calendar days after the date Bids are to be received. The City reserves the right to consider such factors as time of completion of the Work, materials and methods of construction, experience and responsibility of the Bidder, and similar factors in determining which Bid it deems to be in its best interests. The City reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive informalities or technicalities in any Bid and to accept the Bid which it deems to be in the best interest of the City.
